Vera Figueiredo have played with well-known Brazilian artists, like Milton Nascimento and Eliane Elias.
Like Groovissimo said, Vera Figueiredo runs a very successful drum and percussion school in Brazil. Her drum festival ("Batuka") is very important here, motivating new drummers and bringing top drummers to Brazil, like Virgil Donati, Marco Minnemann, Jimmy Branly etc.

But I have yet to find a female drummer who really causes me to go "WOW look at the drummer!".
Maybe it's just that women lack the musculature that guys have and therefore can't throw themselves around, or that they just aren't as aggressive at drumming like a Tony Willams or Billy or Virg or Gary Husband. Tony's arms were fricking huge and he hit with authority. Billy was a physical specimen too, still is.
That said, she's really good. Better than I am. Probably better than a helluva lot of other guys.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I agree. Teri Lyne Carrington was the first female drummer I saw (on T.V., not live) that didn't look 'awkward' when she played. She's really a great drummer. This Vera girl's movements are really good too.Quote:

Teri Lyn is the only female drummer I've seen that has really impressed me.
